This is a mid to late season blueberry plant with the largest berry of any available variety on the market today. Chandler will fruit over a period of 4–6 weeks, and has very nice flavor. This variety is vigorous, with a spreading habit of 5–6 feet. Chandler is probably not hardy enough for the more northern areas, but should do well in zones 5–7.

I bought 3 of these a few years ago. The coop extension agent warned me about SWD on these because they are late. They are all growing but not terribly fast. However, the berries are huge and the flavor is among the best. I didn't expect such outstanding flavor from such a large berry. I get a decent crop even though the plants aren't big yet. Most of the berries ripen within the first 2-3 weeks and they taper off, ripening for about 6 weeks total. I don't water but every late fall add about 12" of leaves on the blueberry bed. That builds great soil and prevents mummy berry disease.

In 2018 I ordered a variety of various blueberry plants. They all took really well during first year and this spring they are looking awesome, so many blossoms (we did remove some, the first year we removed all blossoms) and so much growth. We now are going to make an asparagus patch. Figured we should order from Nourse since the blueberries worked out so well.

Planted 6 varieties of blueberry plants, all from Nourse. We have to stay on top of the pH, but they have done very well.NOTE THAT WE FOLLOWED THEIR GUIDELINES...(people who whine but didn't listen to the pros are just throwing their money away).
Chandler really surprised us by being incredibly prolific and delicious! We ordered 3 more Chandler (as well as other varieties) as we are planning to sell commercially, since the "experiment" we began 3 years ago has done so well.

my order came as advertised and plants are doing well right now. we have had a lot of rain and I hope that does not hurt the young plants. if these do well, I will probably order some more.

Chandler takes a couple of years to really get going, but it is worth the wait. The berry size can be huge, and the flavor is great. Although it is claimed that berries mature over 4 to 6 weeks, my experience is that most of the crop is ready in the first 2 weeks of that period. This year I had a problem with fruit drop prior to ripening, which I believe was due to insufficient watering. Make sure your plant gets enough water when in the fruiting stage. Light mulching is a good idea.

HAVING A PROBLEM w. CHANDLER: EVERY YEAR THE LARGE BERRIES GROW, BUT NEVER RIPEN; THEY STAY HARD AND LIGHT-COLORED AND THEN DROP OFF. IS THERE A HARVESTING TECHNIQUE I AM MISSING?
