Released from the Cornell Small Fruit Breeding Program in Geneva, New York. Jewel is our most popular black raspberry variety. It produces excellent yields of superb quality berries. The fruit is glossy black in color, a large size, and has a rich raspberry flavor. It is an excellent choice for use in jams and jellies. Jewel is winter hardy and a very reliable choice.

Reviews

Planted 10 of these Jewell's in 2022 after prepping the soil and getting the PH just right. Plants grew super fast and tall this past spring and I drip irrigated the plants right up until the bountiful harvest week of July 4th. 10 plants yielded8 large mixing bowls of fruit and my wife was very happy to make alot of jam and a couple pies... with table fruit left for eating. Large flavorful fruit... highly recommend this variety.

The Jewel raspberry is just that. It is huge and very tasty. It's not the firmest of the types we bought but it holds up pretty well. Good flavor. Wait for the dark dark berry and pick gently!

Love this plant. Very productive, hardy, and easy to grow. Great flavor both for eating and jam.

Our Jewels taste as good or better than the wild black raspberries that grow here, plus we put in irrigation for them and when they get big they still have a great taste when the wild ones are small and dried up. They have been very productive since 2018.

Plants were productive, but production was very low & flavor was completely absent. Wouldn't plant again.
