Triple Crown blackberry is a joint release from the USDA-Beltsville and the Pacific West Agricultural Research Service. The plant is semi-erect and thornless and bears large, flavorful fruit. It ripens earlier than Chester and is similar to Chester in winter hardiness. Triple Crown would be a good choice to help extend the blackberry season for home gardeners.

Reviews

Grown in home berry patch trellised in Eastern Virginia. Healthy, vigorous canes that produce large quantities of good tasting big berries. We have had a lot of problems with white drupe syndrome on the Triple Crowns some years (>50% of berries significantly affected, only about 30% of berries totally unaffected) which is prompting me to consider switching to another variety. Allegedly a genetic trigger related to UV exposure (definitely worst on highest berries). Still can use these berries for juices, jelly, etc.
