Malwina Strawberry
CommercialBred by Peter Stoppel in Germany, Malwina is the latest fruiting June-bearing variety we have seen, ripening 7-10 days later than AC Valley Sunset, depending on conditions. The fruit is glossy and dark red with excellent flavor and high Brix readings. The large berries hold size well, and regular pickings will help maintain fruit firmness. With its vigorous growth habit, nitrogen fertilizer must be managed to avoid excessive vegetative growth. Malwina shows resistance to mildew and tolerance to Verticillium wilt and red stele. Malwina is an excellent variety to extend the strawberry season, especially for U-pick and roadside/fresh market operations.
